Why Not Peace?
Chandelle C. Binns
What did it mean to walk for Peace? Why not Peace! What is Peace and what did it mean? That was the question!!!! Why would a person walk for peace? Why wouldn’t they walk for peace? Everyone wants peace, right? What I had searched for my whole life was peace. I searched for peace within my home, peace within myself, peace in my world, peace on the planet, a peaceful way to live, and a peaceful way to hold the intention of peace, love and compassion on the planet and for the people on it. Yes, I do dream of peace, and what that means to me. What I have found, is that I would sacrifice myself for the world to make suffering end, to stop war, to stop hunger, to stop poverty, to stop demoralizing the human spirit, to stop using resources from our Mother Earth faster then we can replenish it, to stop destroying the planet that sustains us. Ok, I was tired of seeing the world as it is. The news was just one depressing story after another, newspapers told the same story. We were filled with fear, greed, war, materialization, desperation, death, dying and political and religious intentions and fabrications. Nothing made since anymore, nothing meant anything any more. My life had gotten to a point where it meant nothing. What if I had children and my children had children? What would they have to endure because of our choices and the choices before us? Would they have to wear masks to school because the air was no longer safe to breathe? Would they have to live in tubes because the air and sun would contaminate them and make them sick? Would they have to worry about where their water would come from? Would they have to live in certain areas of the world because other places had dried up? Would they have to go through watching millions and millions of people dying because we had run out of everything and there just wasn’t enough to go around? What about war? Would my children and grandchildren be drafted because the war just kept going and going, then just moving from chaos to chaos? I wanted nothing this world was offering me, couldn’t dream of a thing. No thought could or would fill my void inside. My dreams were of changing the world as it was, but how do you do that? So, I pondered upon all of my therapy, schooling, life lessons, people that I had met, experiences that changed me. What I wanted was love. What I wanted was to see love. I wanted to smell love. I wanted to love and be loved. I wanted people to love one another, and love this place we call earth. I wanted love to be an action not a conversation. I wanted our government to focus on developing departments of peace and peace programs in schools. I wanted to see commercials about earth awareness, recycling, clean water acts, environmental building. I wanted to see class and race no longer a conversation. I wanted to see human beings eliminate poverty, abuse and violence. I wanted people to demonstrate that violence is not the true nature of human beings. I wanted the greatest human creations to be about art, music, and life; not nuclear and biological weapons under the name of protection! Protection from what? Ourselves???
Our view of life is our perception. We view life from our perspectives as human beings and from the experiences we have come from and what we have experienced. Life becomes a series of moments, instances of choices we make, each moment one after another. Life is a stage and we are the characters in a play, so how is this play going to end? I guess it is up to us. Do we prevail and awaken to our own divinity or do we become extinct because of our own ego? In these moments of perceived chaos, can we continue to laugh and find the joy? Can we realize that chaos is just another form of the Creation Process into something Manifest? Is chaos a part of our human evolution and what does that human evolution look like?
This is what I learned from my own walk through life! You first have to heal yourself from your own trauma, fear and ego to then be able to be of assistance to other people’s healing around you, the world you are in. It all starts internally from, who we are, where we came from, this is where it all starts. It is ingrained in us, in places in the heart. Remembering the heart, remembering the time when we all were connected. Remembering when we were alive and everything around use was alive. Remembering that all life has value and purpose, Cause and effect! We listened to our own rhythms and migrations within ourselves and outside of ourselves. We respected our selves and everything around us. We, as a global family, honored our differences and celebrated our similarities. We no longer look outside of our selves for gratification and satisfaction. I couldn’t see the world any more and ignore the pain. I knew pain and I prayed every day to end fear and suffering on the planet. I couldn’t go to sleep and ignore what was happening to this planet of ours, we were destroying this place and ourselves. “Wake Up, Wake Up! ”, I wanted to say to the world, look around you, see what is happening, and question what you see, what you hear. Wake up and listen. Wake up and speak from your heart.
How could an ordinary person make a difference? I then remembered WATER and the relationship to water. Water had memory, you could change the particles of water just by your words. One drop of water would create a ripple effect through all of the lakes, ponds, and rivers. All Life was touched by this drop of water. Water was our source to life. Without it, we would die, yet we treated it like everything else in life, we took it for granted. One person is just a drop in a bucket of water! How big could we make our wave of a new consciousness? If enough people awoke to a new view of Global PEACE, could we cause this place to shake awake? To hold the vision, the intention of a better world. A place of love and compassion, a world where peace prevails inside us and is viewed outside of us, heck I had to try! Right? Walk in mindfulness with every step. I would pray for peace and I would pray for love and compassion. I would walk with my heart open and I would walk in Rhythm with the Earth’s Heart. I would walk as one heart! How ever you choose to hold the intention for world peace, make a choice that is close to your heart. Know you can make a difference, however you choose, just make a choice! Remember with your intention you’re a drop of water in a bucket causing a ripple effect. I just choose my appreciation and vision for Peace in the form of a World Peace walk around the world! Written By Chandelle Binns 6/27/05
