BASE CAMP: slopes of Mauna Kea on the Hamakua Coast

Waters of Life Charter School/ Community Service Project: College students and high school students learn development and implementation of sustainable energy by harnassing hydroelectric power from the waterfalls. And the Dream Team share their experiences with the group
* Every day begins and ends with a sunrise/sunset fire ceremony (Agnihotra - www.agnihotra.org); each day participants will participate in sharings related to the daily events and to the mission and vision of Beyond the Global Divide, there will be time for the sharing of teachings, and time for quiet reflection.

Volcano National Park: walk down into Kilauea Iki Crater, across the bottom of the crater and up the other forested side/ walk through Thurston Lava Tube/ ceremony at Puo’o Crater (Pele’s home)/ Chain of Craters Road to walk across lava field at dusk to witness Pele’s flow
Ka’u District: Wood Valley Temple, Buddhist temple with dorm rooms where the Dali Lama spent time, in an enchanted forest.

Hamakua Coast Base camp set up/ slopes of Mauna Kea
Red Road Walk: Wawa, old growth rainforest where remnants of Hawaiian villages sustained in the last century with sacred burial grounds; ‘60’s Lava Flow, Kapoho Crater, Hot Pond, McKenzie Park(ancient “jumping off” point in sacrifices), Kehena Beach ( where you can swim with the dolphins), visit
Traditional Hawaiian Charter School, Kalapana ( most recent lava flow and road to view present lava flow at dusk)
Volcano Steam Vent: outside Pahoa town, small craters that you can climb in to feel the breath of Pele
Vagina Cave: in Orchidland, anatomically correct vagina created by the solidified lava
Community Service Project: Hamakua Coast Sustainable Community
Mauna Kea observatory : visit Summit, above the clouds, star show with Hawaiian interpretation of the Galaxy
Waipio Valley: on the Hamakua Coast, overlook and small winding road down into valley, walk only for sturdy legs, others ride. Wild horses, banyan tree house, hundreds of feet waterfalls, water taro farms
Honomu: on the Hamakua Coast, arts community
MOA True Health Healing Center, Hilo : Japanese traditional tea ceremony, flower therapy and receive Jorei (energetic healing)
